Hello everyone, want to say thanks in advance for all the help. I have only been betting on sports for about a month now and I got lucky and hit a 4 team parlay this past weekend in NFL with my last 295 bucks and won 3,300. I am down about 400 already. I know I am betting way to many baseball games and I don't know why I keep doing it. I don't really understand the unit system. Lets say that one unit of my bank roll is 2% of my bank roll, which would make it 60 bucks at a 3000 dollar bk roll. So if there is a 4 unit play, that means I bet 240 bucks, right. Or does that mean that I need to bet enough money to win 240 bucks. I haven't quite got that concept yet. Also, I think I need to stick to one handy capper and I keep playing like 3 at a time. I've got like 15 bets a night going and it's too much. Please tell me what you think I should do, thanks.
So what will dictate me moving up on betting %. I mean if I follow one handy capper at a time, shouldn't I be able to do the 2%. I am basically putting their experience first over my rookie betting skills. I have been smart enough to track the cappers results since I have started and I have come up with a couple that are 50 to 70 percent right now. I mean how else does the advanced bettor do it.

The way your wager increases and decreases is in direct relation with your bankroll increasing or decreasing. If it goes up, then your 1% dollar value increases. If it goes down, your 1% dollar value decreases. This is how it grows and is protected with less risk. As for following handicappers, you should be made aware that professionals in this business are pleased if they can hit between 53%-54% long term. While you may have found a few handicappers that are currently hot, they will cool off and head toward the 50% range over the long run and you might catch them just at the wrong time when they start to lose. It's up to you, but I've been in this business nearly 40 years and you have my recommendation. If you wish to risk more, it's your money.

Therefore 1 unit would equal 1% or $30/$27.27. Sorry for the delay as the site had problems late last night. As to your question, you don't need to be changing your wager amount everytime you make a wager. You should start each week with a new bankroll following the weeks results. For instance, your week should run from Monday through Sunday. As an example, say you start with a $3000 bankroll on Monday. Every wager for that week should be 1% of the $3000. When Sunday is complete, check your bankroll and see how you stand and use that bankroll for the next week whether it increased or decreased and base your 1% wager on that new bankroll.
